Technologists

At Radiology & Imaging, the professional conducting your imaging exam is a radiologic technologist. A radiologic technologist is a specially trained and licensed medical professional who performs diagnostic imaging examinations and may also administer radiation therapy treatments. With our technologists, you’re in the hands of true medical professionals.

Through advanced medical training, radiologic technologists are educated in:

  • Anatomy
  • Patient care
  • Patient exam positioning
  • Imaging examination techniques
  • Equipment protocols
  • Radiation safety
  • Radiation protection

Certification & Education Helps Assure High Quality Exams

All of our radiologic technologists have successfully graduated from a formal education program that includes 2 years in an accredited hospital-based program, or 2-4 years at a college-level academic institution. Each of our technologists has passed a national certification examination and must take continuing education credits every year in order to renew his or her license.

Greater Skill Through Diagnostic Imaging Subspecialization

Radiology & Imaging and Baystate Medical Centers value subspecialization because it provides an additional level of expertise to you, our patient. Each of our radiologists subspecialize in a particular body part or type of medical imaging, and most of our technologists specialize in a specific imaging technique, such as those for bones or organs or breasts. Subspecialization builds greater expertise, more skill in working with you and increased ability to deliver the best diagnostic images. Other specialties within the radiologic technologist medical profession are:

  • Bone Density
  • CT Scan
  • Mammography
  • MRI
  • Nuclear medicine technologists
  • Quality management technologists
